Resort/SPA Description and Personal Experience:

The Call of the Red Rocks

After my unforgettable experience at Palmaïa – The House of Aïa in Mexico (yes, the kind of place that realigns your chakras and your playlist), I found myself craving more than just green juice and guided meditations. I wanted the same soul-soothing vibe—but with a little more dust on my boots.

That’s when Utah showed up on my vision board. Ever since my trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, those red rocks had been haunting my dreams like a siren song. I wanted something with the serenity of a wellness retreat, but planted right in the middle of jaw-dropping adventure.

After some digging, no surprise here: I found several retreat options in Utah that checked all my boxes—mind, body, spirit, and scenic overload.

Why Red Mountain Resort Made the Cut

Out of all the options I explored, Red Mountain Resort stood out like a Zen master at a rave. Here’s why:

Location, location, and—oh wow—location: This place is literally at the doorstep of Snow Canyon State Park. I’ll be honest—I hadn’t even heard of it before this trip. It was a surprise, kind of a majestic surprise. Think red rock cathedrals, lava fields, and desert trails that make you feel like you’ve landed on Mars—but in a really peaceful, meditative way Mojave desert plants sprinkled all around the reddish colored landscape.

Adventure access: Red Mountain is a sweet hub within an approximately two hours drive Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. You can venture to either Bryce or Zion from there or incorporate in your itinerary before or after visiting them.

Travel-friendly: Whether you’re flying into Las Vegas (2.5 hrs) or the tiny but mighty St. George Airport (30 min), getting there is easy—especially if you’re trying to avoid travel stress (you know, the exact thing you’re trying to escape at a wellness retreat).

All my wellness must-haves: We’re talking guided hikes, yoga, meditations, sound baths, a full-service spa, and classes that go beyond the basics—plus private sessions that let you go deep (if that’s your jam). Basically, they checked every wellness box I carry in my invisible self-care clipboard.

The People, the Passion, and the Pull to Return

One of the unexpected highlights of my stay was the people. I met guides who had been working at Red Mountain Resort for years—each one radiating passion for what they do and deep appreciation for the magical landscape they get to call home. Their connection to the place felt contagious.

Then there were my fellow guests—many of whom were repeat offenders, returning year after year and bringing along their friends, families, and even their dogs. (Yep, it’s a dog-friendly resort, so your furry sidekick can get in on the Zen too.) That kind of loyalty says a lot.

Red Mountain Resort absolutely earns a top spot on my list of recommended wellness getaways in Utah. And who knows? Maybe next time, I’ll be the one showing someone else the ropes. One thing’s for sure: I left with a full heart, a clearer mind, and a strong desire to return.
